This image of society beauty Zinaida Skobeleva (1856-1899) dressed for a costume ball was based on a photograph by Bergamasco. In 1878 Skobeleva married Prince Eugen Maximilianovich Romanowsky, 5th Duke of Leuchtenberg (1847 – 1901), who was a son of Maximilian de Beauharnais, 3rd Duke of Leuchtenberg and Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna of Russia.
