This plaque is painted with a view of the Turkish Drawing Room, part of Emperor Alexander II's personal apartments in the Catherine Palace at Tsarskoe Selo. The room contains his large collection of weapons from Egypt, Turkey, and Persia displayed among upholstered carved furniture, a fountain, and verses from Koran painted on the doors and windows. The image is based on a watercolor by painter Eduard Hau (1807-1887).
