Hungarian painter Lajos Kolozsváry (1871–1937) was born in Budapest and studied under Christian Ludwig Griepenkerl (1839–1916) and August Eisenmenger (1830–1907) at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien). He is best known for his genre scenes of Jewish scholars and rabbis.
